What You Don't Know About Google


We all know that Google is the leader in online searching, but there is so much more beyond basic search that Google offers. We’ll take a look at just a few special features that can save you so much time with the click of a mouse.

For example, need a quick word definition? In the Google search box just type “definition” and then the word you want to look up. Perhaps you need to do some quick math calculations. Just enter the calculation you'd like done into the search box and hit the Enter key or click on the Google Search button.

After performing a Google search, ever wonder what the link Similar Pages mean? Selecting this link lets Google automatically scout the web for pages that are related to this result.

The Similar Pages feature can be used for many functions

  • Interested in a particular site's content? Similar Pages can find sites with similar content that you may not be aware of.
  • Looking for product information? Similar Pages can find competitive information so you can make direct comparisons.
  • Performing research on a particular field? Similar Pages can help you find a large number of resources very quickly, without having to worry about selecting the right keyword

Another cool Google feature is “Who Links to Who”. In the Google search box enter link: followed by a URL. This will show you pages that point to that URL. For example, link:www.google.com will show you pages that point to Google's home page.

BZA Launches M Teixeira Soapstone Web Site

When M Teixeira Soapstone selected BZA to redesign their web site they came with three goals. They wanted their site to appeal to both interior designers and the do-it-yourself market. Secondly, it was important to them that when their site was redesigned it was optimized to be indexed in search engines and directories. They also wanted to be able to update the Sales page themselves.

BZA’s solutions included providing an elegant site (www.soapstones.com) with many visuals that communicate the unique quality of M Teixeira imported soapstone. The sophisticated design with simple navigation is visually appealing to both the design trade and homeowners. We also created an online gallery, organized by finished applications, where visitors can view soapstone sinks, countertops, and flooring. Knowing that the client takes advantage of internet search and pay-per-click advertising programs, BZA optimized the site so that it displays in free, natural search results. "On the second day the site was online we jumped in ranking to 2nd on our target key phase on Yahoo and Google, which was quite a relief. Now we can save some money on the “pay-per-click” listings and just benefit from the organic listings, " claims Roger M. Teixeira, President of M. Teixeira Soapstone.

The client frequently changes the products listed in the sales section of their web site, therefore, we created a site they can update without any web programming knowledge.
