Are You Settling for Less Than Excellence?

By Barbara Zaccone

I recently attended a business conference and was treated to a keynote address by successful entrepreneur and author Linda Hollander, author of "Bags to Riches". As she spoke about the importance of hiring professionals for your web site and marketing materials she said something that resonated with me. She claimed that if you have a poor web site or a less than professional image "you are sending a signal to potential clients that your company settles for less than excellence". I thought WOW.

Who would want to hire any company that will settle for less than excellence? Not I. Don't we always want the best?

Many times I have witnessed a transformation in an organization once they get their new web site, brochure, or business card. It actually energizes them and many times puts them in a new league. It's like wearing that perfect suit or dress that makes you feel like a million bucks. With that increased level of confidence, you face the world with a new found energy.

Quality and excellence can be conveyed in something as small as a business card. Have you ever had the experience of someone handing you a business card that just falls limp in your hand. It just feels cheap. Think about what that communicates about that organization? Is that message worth saving $30.00? The printers we use for our clients know we print business cards typically on 130# double weight cover. It makes a positive statement every time it goes from one hand to the other. One box of 1,000 business cards equals 1,000 positive messages. Now that's a deal.

BZA Strengthens the Brand Image of Translation Plus

Translation Plus, based in Hackensack, New Jersey, provides translation services designed to build relationships with international and multi-cultural clients. Translation Plus came to BZA with many initiatives on their marketing to-do list. First, they needed to update their logo. Their current logo was difficult to replicate across various media. BZA provided a cost-effective solution that allowed them to leverage their existing identity but yet provide them with a stronger brand image.

We eliminated the two color gradient that existed in their logo and selected a unique and professional color that strengthened their brand image. We took the arrows from their logo and changed the direction so they point to the company name as opposed to pointing away from the name.

Original Logo Updated Logo

Once this was done we moved on to designing a corporate PowerPoint presentation, stationery, business cards and pocket folder. All materials will compliment each other and create a most professional image.
